What to expect at Dental at Kanwal

Damaged or missing teeth can affect more than just your smile: they can make eating, speaking, and everyday life more difficult than it needs to be.

At Dental at Kanwal, our Central Coast dentists offer crowns and bridges as trusted restorative solutions to get your smile and confidence back on track.

What is a dental crown?

A dental crown is a custom-fitted cap placed over a damaged, weakened, or fractured tooth. It restores the tooth's shape, strength, and appearance; protecting it from further damage while blending seamlessly with your surrounding teeth.

Crowns are commonly recommended after root canal treatment, or when a tooth is too damaged for a standard filling to be effective.

At our Central Coast dental practice, we work with cutting-edge CEREC technology to create crowns on-site. Same day services are available for your convenience, and we will ensure the crown is comfortable and properly fitted.

CEREC technology affords numerous benefits and is a great alternative to a variety of traditional crown-production methods. The process involves the insertion of an intra-oral camera, which will photograph your teeth. After this, a computer-generated 3D model is produced so that a milling unit can cut the crown precisely from a ceramic block. The process requires no impressions, and CEREC crowns are stronger than traditional filling materials.

Crowns are ideal for restoring loose or fractured teeth, as well as improving the appearance of misshapen and discoloured teeth.

What is a dental bridge?

A dental bridge is used to fill the gap left by one or more missing teeth. It works by anchoring an artificial tooth (or teeth) to the natural teeth on either side of the gap, effectively "bridging" the space.

As well as restoring your smile, a bridge helps maintain the alignment of surrounding teeth and supports normal chewing and speaking function.

Our dental technicians are able to provide comfortable solutions to help bridge gaps in your teeth. This is achieved by implementing two or more crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap and replacing the missing teeth with false ones. Often times, bridges can serve as an ideal alternative to dentures.

There are numerous advantages to opting for a dental bridge. In addition to improving the appearance of your teeth, they can help evenly distribute the forces in your bite as well as preventing other teeth from drifting out of position. What’s more, dental bridges can help maintain the shape of your face by reinforcing the optimal dental structure.
